It is well known that staff and volunteers will transfer green behaviour from home to work. For example, many of us began recycling at home and were soon looking to introduce recycling bins in our offices, cafes and museum grounds. Helping the workforce to identify savings at home can therefore reap benefits for the museum too.
The Energy Trust’s Water Energy Calculator has lots of ideas that are relevant for both home and museum. It takes you through each room of the house with a series of simple questions to analyse how much water you are using. At the end of questionnaire it even generates a PDF report which suggests some quick wins to save water and money.
