2014 has barely begun and already we have news of another sustainability award for a West Midlands museum!
Staffordshire County Museum’s Museum Development Team (based at the Shugborough Estate) has achieved a bronze award in the NUS Green Impact scheme. In addition the team was commended with a special ‘Environmental Heroes’ award recognising all the extra work they have done with colleagues across the estate to make Shugborough more sustainable.
Green Impact is an environmental accreditation and awards scheme run by the National Union of Students to enable and showcase positive changes in environmental practice. From recycling, to investing in more efficient equipment, to encouraging biodiversity, or Fairtrade, the various criteria cover a broad range of issues under the sustainability umbrella, all tailored to an individual institution. It offers a means of benchmarking and improving your organisation’s performance.
